Gulf Craft and Dubai Maritime City Authority Simplify Yacht Registration: A Win-Win for Boat Owners

by JLMMARINE 04 Nov 2024

Gulf Craft, a prominent UAE-based shipyard, has inked a strategic agreement with Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA)—the governing body of ports, customs, and free zones. Aimed at simplifying the registration and licensing procedures of Dubai maritime vessels, this partnership is a significant leap forward for boat owners

A New Era for Yacht Registration

This symbiotic collaboration paves the way for a unified yacht registration system online. Customers purchasing yachts from Gulf Craft can now directly register their vessels with the DMCA via an online platform, greatly easing the registration process. This initiative echoes His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's broader objective of enhancing the accessibility and convenience of government services.

A Testament to Strengthened Private-Public Sector Collaboration

Sheikh Saeed, Executive Director of DMCA, underscores the alliance as a clear indicator of DMCA's commitment to strengthen ties with private enterprises to facilitate procedures for customers, contributing to the nation's goal of providing the 'best experience for everyone dealing with Dubai government.'

Boosting the Attractiveness of Dubai's Yacht Industry

Abeer Alshaali, Deputy General Manager at Gulf Craft, lauds the administration's efforts to improve the registration process's efficiency. By partnering with Gulf Craft to provide this service directly at the point of sale, they anticipate this cooperation will heighten Dubai's appeal as a prime destination for maritime tourists

Upholding Standards and Regulations for Safety

The objective is to ensure adherence to standards, requirements, and regulations for safety after verifying compliance with all approved maritime vessel technical specifications. This endeavor also aims to ensure all vessels meet safety standards and regulations, ultimately contributing to Dubai's reputation as a leading maritime hub.

Gulf Craft's Upcoming Projects and New CEO Appointment

Currently, Gulf Craft has five projects under development, including its first-ever 50-meter-long Majesty 160. The group also announced the appointment of Yannis Haidis as the new CEO.

Looking Ahead: The 2024 Gulf Super Yacht Summit

As part of Dubai's continued efforts to grow its maritime sector, the forthcoming 2024 Gulf Super Yacht Summit will further demonstrate the region's growing influence in the industry. The event will take place from 4th to 5th December 2024, at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, with Gulf Craft participating as a gold sponsor
