Easy-to-Miss Differences

• Gearcase class decides the size, not horsepower alone. A 25-35 HP Big Foot, Command Thrust or High Thrust leg carries a larger gearcase and a larger propeller, so the 11-inch shroud will not clear it.
• Propeller diameter is the hard limit. A 10.5-inch propeller is the largest this guard encloses; a taller-diameter propeller on the same engine puts the blade tips into the shroud.
• The trim tab under the cavitation plate has to come off before the guard can sit flat. Leaving it in place both blocks the mounting face and disturbs water flow behind the guard.
• Mounting uses two separate load paths: four holes per side through the cavitation plate plus one hole through the lower skeg. Skipping the skeg bolt leaves the shroud free to twist under load.
• Both plate and skeg are drilled during fitting, so this is a permanent modification to the gearcase, not a clamp-on accessory.
• Above 25-30 mph the guard is outside its rated envelope, which changes handling and loads the shroud beyond its design intent.

Installation Notes

1. Remove the trim tab located under the cavitation plate before starting.
2. Position the guard on the underside of the cavitation plate, as far forward as the plate allows, with equal clearance between the shroud and the propeller blades on both sides.
3. Drill four holes through the cavitation plate and the guard on each side using the supplied drill bit.
4. Insert the supplied bolts, washers and Nyloc nuts through those holes and leave them loose for now.
5. Drill one hole through the lower skeg, fit a bolt, washer and Nyloc nut, and tighten it securely.
6. Return to the four cavitation plate bolts and tighten them fully to lock the guard in position.
7. Basic hand tools and a drill are enough; allow roughly 30 minutes. Professional installation is recommended for safety and optimal performance.
