Introducing the First 56-Meter Model of Saturno Super Yacht Series from Cantieri di Pisa
A Nautical Marvel from Cantieri di Pisa: The Saturno 56
The illustrious Italian shipyard, Cantieri di Pisa, has unveiled the first model in their brand-new Saturno super yacht series, blending traditional design elements with modern functionalities to meet the evolving demands of the market. Termed as the Saturno 56, it is part of the Saturno line that spans from 38 to 90 meters in length, with the largest epitomized as “Super Saturno 90”. Within each yacht, a unique black and white hull line, ample “striped” windows, and classic stern design are the standouts.
Impeccable Design and Layout
The Saturno 56 embraces a six-cabin layout, including an exquisite beach club connected to the main and upper deck via lateral stairs. The interior design, by Milan-based m2atelier, emphasizes an informal, relaxed lifestyle suitable for modern families. They have opted for a symmetrical layout and minimalist décor—featuring grid ceilings, three-dimensional wood features, and mini spotlights—with inspiration drawn from the "beauty of Japanese aesthetics."
Cantieri di Pisa's Chief Designer, Antonio Luxardo, highlighted the yacht's fusion of traditional and contemporary elements. He asserted, "Reinventing Cantieri di Pisa's traditional style traits with a classic layout, this series caters to the needs of contemporary boat owners of all ages, striking a balance between relaxation and activity areas, whilst ensuring ample indoor light with larger glass surfaces."
Innovative Features
The Saturno 56 measures 57 meters in length and 11.2 meters in width, with a striking stern area reminiscent of the shipyard's historic models. The beach club is designed as a water terrace featuring a transparent-bottomed swimming pool to enhance space with natural light. The yacht also includes a gym on the sundeck, accessible via stairs on both sides.
The interior design harnesses natural light to the fullest and provides a panoramic view. The main deck lounge covers 90 square meters, with m2atelier's design merging natural materials, clean lines, and minimalist décor. The studio describes the Saturno series as a modern reinterpretation of Cantieri di Pisa's iconic yachts, aiming to create a yacht lifestyle characterized by freedom and openness.
Ensuring Sustainability
The Saturno 56 is equipped with Cantieri di Pisa's EHPH (Environmentally Friendly High Power Hull) displacement hull, designed for long-range cruising and lower fuel consumption. While the current models are powered by traditional engines, the shipyard is exploring hybrid propulsion systems to adapt to the sustainable development market trend.
Cantieri di Pisa was founded in 1945 on the banks of the Arno River. This Tuscan shipyard is famous for its planing motor yachts, like the Akhir and Kitalpha series designed by Pierluigi Spadolini. Since 2021, it has been under the new ownership of Enrico Gennasio. Recently, the newly established custom yacht division of the shipyard announced the sale of a 37.5-meter-long explorer yacht to a French buyer.
Hi—I’m Jim Walker
I grew up in a Florida boatyard, earning pocket money (and a few scars) by rebuilding outboard carbs before I could drive. That hands-on habit carried me through a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, where I studied how salt water quietly murders metal.
I spent ten years designing cooling systems for high-horsepower outboards, then joined JLM Marine as CTO. We bench-test every new part in the lab, but I still bolt early prototypes onto my own 23-foot skiff for a weekend shake-down— nothing beats real wake and spray for finding weak spots.
Here on the blog I share the fixes and shortcuts I’ve learned so your engine—and your day on the water—run smooth.
