Installation Guide

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and remove the engine cover.
2. Place a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the drain screw to empty the gear case oil.
3. Remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gear case) to the midsection.
4. Gently lower the gear case, being careful with the driveshaft and shift shaft.
5. Locate and unbolt the water pump housing cover to expose the impeller.
6. Note the orientation of the old impeller's blades before removing it.
7. Clean the housing interior and inspect the wear plate and housing for scoring or cracks.
8. Lightly grease the new impeller and slide it onto the driveshaft, turning the shaft in its normal rotational direction to bend the blades correctly.
9. Reinstall the water pump housing and tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
10. Raise the lower unit back into place, ensuring the driveshaft, water tube, and shift shaft align properly.
11. Secure the lower unit with its bolts and refill the gear case with fresh oil.
12. Test the engine with a water supply to confirm the cooling system functions correctly.
