Installation Guide

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable for safety.
2. Place a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the gearcase drain and vent plugs to drain the gear oil.
3. Remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) to the engine's midsection.
4. Carefully lower the gearcase away from the engine. The driveshaft will disengage from the powerhead.
5. Locate the water pump housing on top of the gearcase and remove its bolts.
6. Lift the housing off to expose the impeller. Note the rotational direction of the existing impeller's fins for reference.
7. Remove the old impeller and the drive key from the shaft. Clean any debris or corrosion from the housing interior and wear plate.
8. Install the new drive key into the driveshaft slot.
9. Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft, aligning its keyway with the key.
10. While rotating the driveshaft clockwise, press the water pump housing down over the impeller. This correctly bends the fins.
11. Secure the housing with its bolts and torque to the manufacturer's specification. Reinstall the gearcase and refill with new gear oil before testing.
