Installation Guide

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent accidental starting.
2. Remove the lower unit (gearcase) from the outboard motor by unbolting it.
3. Unbolt and carefully remove the water pump housing cover.
4. Note the rotational direction of the old impeller's blades before removing it from the driveshaft.
5. Remove the old impeller, gasket, and the drive key from the shaft.
6. Thoroughly clean the inside of the pump housing and wear plate, inspecting for scoring or damage.
7. Install the new drive key into the slot on the driveshaft.
8. Slide the new impeller onto the shaft while rotating it in the direction of engine operation to correctly orient the blades.
9. Apply a light coat of marine grease to the inside of the housing to ease installation.
10. Reinstall the water pump housing with a new gasket and torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specified values.
11. Reattach the lower unit to the outboard.
12. Reconnect the battery and test the engine using a water supply (flusher or in water) to confirm proper water flow from the tell-tale outlet.
