Installation Guide
- Turn off the engine and close the raw water intake valve (seacock).
- Locate the sea water pump, typically mounted on the engine block.
- Remove the screws holding the pump cover plate in place.
- Carefully remove the cover and the old O-ring seal.
- Use pliers to grip the hub of the old impeller and pull it straight out. Note the direction of the vanes.
- Clean the inside of the pump housing and the cover plate.
- Lightly lubricate the new O-ring and the inside of the pump housing with marine grease or soap.
- Install the new impeller by pushing it in while twisting it in the direction of engine rotation to bend the vanes correctly.
- Place the new O-ring into its groove on the pump housing.
- Reinstall the cover plate and tighten the screws evenly.
- Open the seacock, start the engine, and immediately check for water leaks around the pump cover.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
Q: How do I confirm this fits my engine?
A: First, verify your engine model and year are listed in the compatibility table. Second, and most importantly, you must confirm your engine has a brass sea water pump. This impeller is not compatible with composite plastic pump housings.
Q: What are the signs of a failing impeller?
A: The most common symptom is engine overheating at idle or low speeds. You may also notice a weaker stream of water from the exhaust outlet. A visual inspection will reveal cracked, stiff, or missing impeller vanes.
Q: How often should I replace the impeller?
A: It is recommended to inspect the impeller annually and replace it every 1-2 years, or as specified in your engine's service manual. Replacement frequency depends on usage hours and water conditions (sandy or silty water causes faster wear).
Q: OEM vs. Aftermarket?
A: This listing is an aftermarket replacement part (not an OEM component). We build to OEM specifications using comparable-grade materials. Production is done in an ISO9002-certified facility, and each batch is inspected for consistent performance.
Q: How fast do you ship and how much does it cost?
A: We offer fast global shipping—typically 5–15 days worldwide—and standard shipping is free. Expedited options are available at checkout depending on your location.
Q: What is your warranty and return policy?
A: This product includes a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If something goes wrong, contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard return window (unused & in original condition); please see our policy page or reach out for instructions.
