This VRO fuel pump is designed for Johnson and Evinrude 90–175 HP 2-Stroke V4 and V6 60° outboard engines manufactured between 1991 and 2006. It serves as a direct replacement component, restoring proper fuel delivery and engine performance.
This pump directly replaces Johnson/Evinrude part numbers 438400 and 5004558. Please note, this unit requires the use of premixed fuel and oil at a 50:1 ratio, as it does not perform the oil-mixing function of the original VRO system.
Use this table to confirm equivalent part numbers across OEM and aftermarket brands.

Do I still need to mix oil with my gas after installing this pump?
Yes, absolutely. This is a fuel-only pump and does not perform oil injection. You must use gasoline that is pre-mixed with 2-stroke oil at a 50:1 ratio to prevent engine damage.
How can I confirm this part fits my engine?
Compare your engine's model, horsepower, and year against the compatible models listed in the table above. You can also verify by cross-referencing your existing part number with those provided (438400, 5004558, Sierra 18-8402, etc.).
What are the signs of a failing fuel pump?
Common symptoms include the engine sputtering or bogging down at high speeds, difficulty starting, stalling, hesitation during acceleration, or a total loss of power.
What is the correct connection order for the hoses?
The correct sequence for the ports, when viewing the pump from back to front, is: Pulse (from the crankcase), Fuel Out (to the carburetors), and Fuel In (from the tank).
