Installation Guide
- 1Allow the engine to cool fully, switch the ignition off, and disconnect the negative battery cable.
- 2Locate the original temperature sensor on the model- and serial-specific parts diagram. Confirm the OEM number and connector shape before removal.
- 3Release the blue connector lock and unplug the sensor by the connector housing. Do not pull on the wires.
- 4Place an absorbent cloth below the sensor, remove the old unit with the correct wrench on the hex body, and keep debris out of the threaded opening.
- 5Confirm the replacement O-ring is seated, start the sensor by hand to prevent cross-threading, and tighten it to the torque in your Mercury / MerCruiser service manual for that engine.
- 6Reconnect the plug until it locks, reconnect the battery, then run the engine per the service procedure while checking for leakage, warning messages, and a normal temperature reading.
Note: Professional installation is recommended for engine temperature sensors on Verado and MerCruiser powerplants.
