This Safe-Skeg is designed to provide a durable solution for protecting a new skeg or repairing a damaged one. It is constructed from mirror-polished 316 marine-grade stainless steel to add shine and improve steering performance while preventing wear and minor impacts.
This part is a direct replacement for OEM/Aftermarket numbers: 27341, 35-SS710.

Installation Guide
Installation is straightforward, requires no marine technician, and can be completed in minutes. Follow these general steps:
- Ensure there is at least 2 to 3 inches of the upper skeg remaining to securely hold the guard.
- Clean the surface of your existing skeg to ensure it is free of debris.
- Using a mallet, gently tap the guard over your current skeg until fully seated.
- Using the two pre-drilled mounting holes in the guard as pilot holes, drill through the skeg using a 1/4" drill bit.
- Insert the provided self-locking bolts (which are pre-coated with thread locker).
- Tighten the bolts securely with the provided Allen wrenches until the guard is firmly in place.

Can I install it on an already broken skeg?
Yes, the guard can be installed over a broken skeg as long as there is at least 2 to 3 inches of the original skeg remaining to secure the mounting hardware.

The drain hole is a critical feature that allows water to escape from inside the guard. This prevents water from becoming trapped, which stops corrosion and protects the skeg from damage caused by freezing in cold climates.
