How to Match This Part

This aftermarket oxygen sensor replaces Yamaha 65L-8592A-01 (catalog form 65L-8592A-01-00). It threads into the exhaust on selected Yamaha V6 two-stroke HPDI and EFI outboards from 150 to 250 HP and reports exhaust oxygen so the ECU can trim fuel. This unit is new production, not a remanufactured core.

Match this part in this order:
1. OEM number on the removed sensor or in your parts catalog (65L-8592A-01 / 65L-8592A-01-00, 65L-8592A-00 / 65L-8592A-00-00, or 68F-8592A-00 / 68F-8592A-00-00)
2. Model code and year in the table below
3. Physical form — hex body, slotted tip, integral lead with an inline cylindrical module, and a two-piece plug

This is not Yamaha 67H-8592A (the two 2-pin-connector sensor used on DX/LX/SX/VX 150–200). If your original uses two small 2-pin plugs and no inline module, order the 67H listing instead.

Part Number Cross-Reference

Use this table to confirm equivalent part numbers. Yamaha catalogs these sensors with a trailing -00 suffix.

OEM Yamaha Outboard 68F-8592A-00 Equivalent Yamaha number; also listed as 68F-8592A-00-00
Aftermarket Sierra 18-7656 Direct aftermarket replacement

Part numbers are listed for identification only. This is an aftermarket part manufactured by JLM Marine and is not sold as a genuine Yamaha component.

Primary OEM number 65L-8592A-01
Mounting Threaded into the exhaust housing
Electrical connection Integral lead with inline module and two-piece plug

Installation Guide

1

Allow the engine and exhaust housing to cool fully. Disconnect the battery negative cable before unplugging the sensor lead.

2

Note the routing of the two-piece plug and inline module, then unplug the connector. Unscrew the old sensor from the exhaust housing with an oxygen-sensor socket on the hex — do not pull on the lead or crush the inline module.

3

Confirm the OEM number and the inline-module / two-piece-plug layout match this 65L-8592A-01 assembly. Thread the new sensor in by hand, then tighten snugly on the hex. Follow the Yamaha service manual for your model for tightening and thread treatment.

4

Reconnect the two-piece plug until it locks, restore the battery, start the engine, and confirm there is no exhaust leak at the bung and that the EFI/HPDI system runs without an oxygen-sensor fault.

Note: Professional installation is recommended to ensure safety and optimal performance.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Is this an OEM or aftermarket part?+

This is an aftermarket JLM Marine replacement matched to Yamaha 65L-8592A-01. It is not a genuine Yamaha part.

Will this replace 67H-8592A-00 on my DX/SX 150–200?+

No. 67H-8592A is a different Yamaha oxygen-sensor family with two 2-pin connectors and no inline module. Use this 65L/68F sensor only when your catalog or removed part shows 65L-8592A or 68F-8592A.

Is 68F-8592A-00 the same sensor?+

Yes — 68F-8592A-00 is a Yamaha equivalent number for this assembly. 65L-8592A-00 is the earlier 65L number superseded by 65L-8592A-01.

Is this a remanufactured sensor?+

No. This listing is new production, not a rebuilt or remanufactured core.
