Allow the engine and exhaust to cool fully. Disconnect the battery negative cable before unplugging the sensor connector.

Note the harness routing and clip positions, then unplug the connector. Unscrew the old sensor from the exhaust-side bung with the correct oxygen-sensor socket or wrench on the hex — do not pull on the lead.
