Q: How do I confirm this fits my engine?
A: This gasket fits a wide range of MerCruiser V6 and V8 engines from 1998–2001 with center-rise exhaust manifolds and 4" riser connections. It is a full-flow (open) type for standard cooling systems. The best way to confirm is to match your engine model and year to our compatibility chart and cross-reference your old part number with the numbers listed.
Q: What is the difference between a full-flow and a restricted gasket?
A: This full-flow (open) gasket allows maximum water flow and is used in standard/raw-water cooling systems. A restricted gasket has smaller passages to limit water flow, which is required for many closed/freshwater cooling systems. Using the wrong type can lead to engine overheating or overcooling.
Q: What are the signs my exhaust elbow gasket is failing?
A: Common signs of a failed gasket include visible water leaks (especially when the engine is running), rust stains originating from the joint between the manifold and riser, engine overheating alarms, or steam coming from the engine compartment.
Q: How often should I replace this gasket?
A: It is best practice to replace the exhaust manifold and riser gaskets whenever you separate the components for inspection or service. In saltwater environments, it is recommended to inspect the exhaust system annually and plan to replace gaskets and risers every 3-5 years as part of preventative maintenance.
Q: OEM vs. Aftermarket?
A: This listing is an aftermarket replacement part (not an OEM component). We build to OEM specifications using comparable-grade materials. Production is done in an ISO9002-certified facility, and each batch is inspected for consistent performance.
Q: How fast do you ship and how much does it cost?
A: We offer fast global shipping—typically 5–15 days worldwide—and standard shipping is free. Expedited options are available at checkout depending on your location.
Q: What is your warranty and return policy?
A: This product includes a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If something goes wrong, contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard return window (unused & in original condition); please see our policy page or reach out for instructions.
