This aftermarket throttle position sensor (TPS) replaces Mercury MerCruiser / Quicksilver 803148 (later catalogued as 8M0230659). It bolts to the throttle body and reports throttle-shaft angle to the ECM so fuel delivery and spark timing stay in sync. This listing is a brand-new sensor, not a remanufactured or rebuilt unit.
Match this part in this order:
1. OEM number on the removed sensor — 803148 or 8M0230659
2. Engine model and serial number — MerCruiser MCM / MIE 350 Mag and Black Scorpion Ski from serial 0L005900 and up (serial plate on the engine block or flame-arrestor cover)
3. Physical form — black two-hole mounting flange, light grey rotor face, and a single sealed side connector
Compare the mounting ears, rotor slot, and connector shape with the product images before ordering. If your original sensor carries a different OEM number or a different connector layout, do not use this part.
Use these verified numbers to confirm you have the correct throttle position sensor. Brand names and OEM numbers are for identification only.
| Type | Brand | Part Number | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| OEM | Mercury MerCruiser / Quicksilver | 803148 | Primary reference (SENSOR-TPS) |
| OEM | Mercury MerCruiser / Quicksilver | 8M0230659 | Later catalog / supersession of 803148 |
| OEM | Volvo Penta / OMC Stern Drive | 3855296 | Interchange OEM number for the same TPS family |
| Aftermarket | Sierra Marine | 18-7757 | Direct cross-reference |
| Aftermarket | Mallory Marine | 9-33700 | Direct cross-reference |
| Aftermarket | CDI Electronics | E13-0008 | Direct cross-reference |
| Aftermarket | ARCO | TP001 | Direct cross-reference |
This is an aftermarket part manufactured by JLM Marine. It is not sold as a genuine Mercury, MerCruiser, Quicksilver, Volvo Penta, or OMC component.
Confirm your MerCruiser model and serial before ordering. Serial location guide: Mercury Parts Diagrams. Always match the OEM number and physical form of the sensor you remove.
| Brand | Engine Model | Serial Number Range | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| MerCruiser | MCM / MIE 350 Mag | 0L005900 & Up | Replaces 803148 / 8M0230659 |
| MerCruiser | Black Scorpion Ski | 0L005900 & Up | Replaces 803148 / 8M0230659 |
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Part type | Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) |
| Primary OEM replaced | Mercury MerCruiser / Quicksilver 803148 (also 8M0230659) |
| Mounting | Bolt-on throttle-body mount with two-hole flange |
| Connector | Single sealed side connector (plug-in to the existing engine harness) |
| Housing form | Black molded body with light grey rotor face over the throttle-shaft coupling |
| Condition | Brand new — not remanufactured |
Note: Professional installation is recommended for EFI throttle-body sensors.
Read the number on your existing sensor first. If it is 803148 or 8M0230659, this is the correct replacement. Then confirm MCM / MIE 350 Mag or Black Scorpion Ski with serial 0L005900 and up, and compare the flange and connector with the product images.
Every unit for this listing is brand new. We do not supply rebuilt, refurbished, or remanufactured sensors here.
Common signs include rough or hunting idle, hesitation when the throttle opens, poor throttle response, and engine fault codes related to throttle position. Confirm the fault by testing before replacing the sensor — wiring and connector problems can produce the same symptoms.
This is an aftermarket replacement manufactured by JLM Marine. It is not a genuine Mercury, MerCruiser, or Quicksilver part. OEM and aftermarket numbers are listed only for cross-matching.
