Installation Guide
-
Disconnect Power: Begin by disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery.
-
Drain Gear Lube: Position a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the upper and lower gear lube drain screws to drain the oil.
-
Remove Lower Unit: Remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) to the engine's midsection and carefully lower it.
-
Access Water Pump: Remove the bolts on top of the water pump housing to lift it off the driveshaft.
-
Inspect & Remove Old Parts: Take note of the old impeller's vane direction. Remove the old housing, impeller, wear plate, gaskets, and Woodruff key.
-
Clean Surfaces: Thoroughly clean all mating surfaces, removing any old gasket material or corrosion.
-
Install New Components: Place the new gaskets and stainless steel wear plate onto the lower unit. Install the new Woodruff key into the driveshaft.
-
Install Impeller: Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft. Place the new housing over the top and turn the driveshaft clockwise to help seat the impeller vanes correctly inside the housing.
-
Secure Housing: Fasten the new housing with the provided bolts, tightening them to the manufacturer's specified torque.
-
Reassemble: Re-install the lower unit, refill with fresh gear lube, and re-connect the battery. Start the engine and confirm a strong, steady water stream from the tell-tale outlet.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
Q: How do I confirm this kit fits my Yamaha engine?
A: This kit is designed for specific Yamaha 4-Stroke models: F75 (2003–2017), F80 (1999–2003), F90 (2003–2017), and F100 (1999–2003). Please check the "Compatible Engine Models" table and cross-reference your OEM part number (67F-W0078-00-00) to ensure a perfect match.
Q: What are the signs my water pump impeller needs replacing?
A: Common signs of a failing impeller include the engine overheating at idle or low speeds, a weak or non-existent "tell-tale" water stream, or, upon inspection, an old impeller with cracked, stiff, or missing vanes.
Q: How often should I replace the water pump impeller?
A: For preventative maintenance, we recommend inspecting and/or replacing the water pump impeller every 1-2 years or every 100-200 hours of operation, depending on usage conditions (e.g., saltwater vs. freshwater).
Q: OEM vs. Aftermarket?
A: This listing is an aftermarket replacement part (not an OEM component). We build to OEM specifications using comparable-grade materials. Production is done in an ISO9002-certified facility, and each batch is inspected for consistent performance.
Q: How fast do you ship and how much does it cost?
A: We offer fast global shipping—typically 5–15 days worldwide—and standard shipping is free. Expedited options are available at checkout depending on your location.
Q: What is your warranty and return policy?
A: This product includes a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If something goes wrong, contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard return window (unused & in original condition); please see our policy page or reach out for instructions.
