Installation Guide
-
Safety First: Disconnect the engine's battery and ensure the work area is secure.
-
Shift to Neutral: Place the outboard motor in the neutral gear position.
-
Detach Lower Unit: Loosen and remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) to the engine. Carefully separate it.
-
Access Pump Housing: Locate the water pump assembly on top of the lower unit and remove its mounting bolts.
-
Remove Old Impeller: Lift the pump housing and slide the old impeller off the driveshaft. Take note of the direction the vanes are bent.
-
Clean and Inspect: Thoroughly clean the inside of the pump housing and wear plate. Check for scoring, warping, or damage.
-
Install New Impeller: Lightly lubricate the new impeller and housing. Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft while turning the shaft clockwise to correctly bend the vanes.
-
Reassemble Housing: Reinstall the water pump housing, ensuring gaskets are aligned, and tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
-
Reattach Lower Unit: Guide the lower unit back into place, aligning the driveshaft and water tube. Secure it with the mounting bolts.
-
Test Operation: Reconnect the battery. With the outboard in water or connected to a flush device, start the engine and check for a strong, steady stream from the cooling system's tell-tale outlet.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I confirm this impeller fits my engine?
First, check your engine's model, year, and horsepower against the "Compatible Engine Models" table. Second, verify your existing part number matches one of the numbers in the "Part Number Cross-Reference" list. This ensures an accurate fit.
What are the signs of a failing water pump impeller?
Common symptoms include the engine overheating at idle or low speeds, a weak or intermittent water stream from the "tell-tale" outlet, and visible cracking or brittleness on the old impeller's blades upon inspection.
How often should I replace the impeller?
For preventative maintenance, it is recommended to replace the impeller every 1-2 years or every 100-200 hours of use. Replacement intervals should be shorter in saltwater or silty/sandy conditions.
OEM vs. Aftermarket?
This listing is an aftermarket replacement part (not an OEM component). We build to OEM specifications using comparable-grade materials. Production is done in an ISO9002-certified facility, and each batch is inspected for consistent performance.
How fast do you ship and how much does it cost?
We offer fast global shipping—typically 5–15 days worldwide—and standard shipping is free. Expedited options are available at checkout depending on your location.
What is your warranty and return policy?
This product includes a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If something goes wrong, contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard return window (unused & in original condition); please see our policy page or reach out for instructions.
