Installation Guide
-
Turn Off Power: Disconnect the battery and turn off the engine's raw water intake seacock.
-
Access the Pump: Locate the raw water pump. You may need to remove other engine components to gain access.
-
Remove the Cover Plate: Unscrew the bolts holding the pump's cover plate in place. Note the orientation of the bolts if they are different lengths.
-
Inspect the Old Impeller: Carefully remove the old impeller. A pair of needle-nose pliers or impeller puller tool can be helpful. Check for missing blades, which must be located and removed from the cooling system.
-
Clean the Housing: Clean the inside of the impeller housing and the cover plate. Remove any old gasket material or debris.
-
Install the New Gasket/O-Ring: Place the new gasket or O-ring onto the pump housing.
-
Insert the New Impeller: Lubricate the new impeller and the inside of the housing with a water-based lubricant or glycerine. Insert the impeller with a twisting motion, ensuring the blades bend in the correct direction (opposite to the direction of pump rotation).
-
Replace the Cover Plate: Secure the cover plate with its screws, tightening them in a crisscross pattern to ensure an even seal. Do not overtighten.
-
Restore Connections: Re-open the seacock and reconnect the battery.
-
Test for Leaks: Start the engine and immediately check for water flow from the exhaust and for any leaks around the pump cover. Run for a few minutes to confirm proper operation.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I confirm this fits my engine?
The best way to confirm fitment is to match your existing part number to the ones listed in our Part Number Cross-Reference table. Additionally, check your engine or pump model against the compatibility tables provided on this page. Verifying the physical dimensions (diameter, width, shaft style) against your old part is also a reliable method.
What are the signs of a failing water pump impeller?
Common signs include the engine running hotter than normal or overheating, a noticeable reduction in water flow from the exhaust outlet, and visible cracks or missing blades on the impeller itself upon inspection.
How often should I replace the impeller?
As a general maintenance rule, it is recommended to inspect your impeller annually and replace it every 1-2 years, or after a specific number of engine hours as recommended by your engine's manufacturer. Frequent use in silty or sandy water may require more frequent replacement.
OEM vs. Aftermarket?
This listing is an aftermarket replacement part (not an OEM component). We build to OEM specifications using comparable-grade materials. Production is done in an ISO9002-certified facility, and each batch is inspected for consistent performance.
How fast do you ship and how much does it cost?
We offer fast global shipping—typically 5–15 days worldwide—and standard shipping is free. Expedited options are available at checkout depending on your location.
What is your warranty and return policy?
This product includes a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If something goes wrong, contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard return window (unused & in original condition); please see our policy page or reach out for instructions.
