Installation Notes

  1. Shut the engine off, allow it to cool, and place a suitable drain pan below the service points.
  2. Follow the engine owner’s manual for fluid grades, capacities, service sequence, and model-specific torque values.
  3. Replace the oil filter, fuel filter, oil-drain washer, and both gearcase seals at their respective service points.
  4. Use the included manual pump for gear-lube filling as directed in the owner’s manual. Engine oil and gear lubricant are separate service supplies.
  5. Inspect each serviced point for leakage before returning the outboard to use, and dispose of used fluids and filters responsibly.

Does this kit fit every Mercury 15 hp or 20 hp outboard?

No. This fitment answer requires a Mercury EFI FourStroke in the listed serial range. Carbureted engines and other serial families are outside the application.

The 8M0151469 application includes Mercury 9.9 hp FourStroke EFI engines from serial 1R008146 through 1R278792.

Does the Mercury number make this a genuine Mercury kit?

No. This is a JLM Marine aftermarket package. The Mercury numbers are cross-references used to identify the service-kit application and component relationships.

Are engine oil and gear lubricant included?
