Installation Guide
-
Shut Off Power: Disconnect the battery and close the raw water intake seacock.
-
Access the Pump: Locate the raw water pump and remove any engine covers or components obstructing access.
-
Remove the Cover Plate: Unscrew the bolts holding the pump's cover plate. Keep the screws safe.
-
Note Impeller Orientation: Before removal, observe which way the impeller blades are bent. The new impeller must be installed with the blades bent in the same direction.
-
Extract the Old Impeller: Use impeller pulling pliers or two screwdrivers to carefully pry the old impeller out of the housing. Avoid scratching the housing walls.
-
Clean the Housing: Inspect the pump housing for cracks, scoring, or debris. Clean the interior surfaces and cover plate thoroughly.
-
Lubricate the New Impeller: Apply a light coat of water-based lubricant or dish soap to the inside of the housing and to the new impeller. Do not use petroleum grease.
-
Install the New Impeller: Insert the new impeller by pushing it in while turning the shaft in the direction of engine rotation. This will help bend the blades correctly.
-
Replace Gasket/O-Ring: Install the new gasket or o-ring onto the cover plate or pump housing.
-
Reassemble and Test: Secure the cover plate, reopen the seacock, reconnect the battery, and start the engine. Immediately check for leaks and verify that water is flowing from the exhaust.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
Q: How do I confirm this impeller fits my engine?
A: Start by checking your original part number against our Part Number Cross-Reference table. Then, find your engine model in the Compatible Engine Models list. For final confirmation, compare the Technical Specifications—especially the shaft diameter (16 mm), impeller diameter (57.1 mm), and drive type (12-spline)—with your old part.
Q: What are the signs of a failing water pump impeller?
A: The most common signs are an engine temperature that is higher than normal, a "low water pressure" alarm, or a reduced flow of water from the exhaust outlet. A damaged impeller cannot pump water effectively, leading to overheating.
Q: How often should I replace my impeller?
A: As a general rule, impellers should be inspected annually and replaced every 1-2 years or every 100-200 hours of operation, whichever comes first. Replacing it as part of preventative maintenance helps avoid engine damage from overheating.
Q: What is the difference between a neoprene and a nitrile impeller?
A: This impeller is made of neoprene, which is the standard material for engine cooling and raw water pumping applications. Nitrile impellers are primarily used for pumping oily or fuel-contaminated water and are not recommended for standard engine cooling.
Q: OEM vs. Aftermarket?
A: This listing is an aftermarket replacement part (not an OEM component). We build to OEM specifications using comparable-grade materials. Production is done in an ISO9002-certified facility, and each batch is inspected for consistent performance.
Q: How fast do you ship and how much does it cost?
A: We offer fast global shipping—typically 5–15 days worldwide—and standard shipping is free. Expedited options are available at checkout depending on your location.
Q: What is your warranty and return policy?
A: This product includes a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If something goes wrong, contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard return window (unused & in original condition); please see our policy page or reach out for instructions.
