Installation Guide

1 Stop the engine, let it cool, and close the raw water seacock so water cannot enter the boat while the pump is open.
2 Remove the cover plate screws and lift off the cover. Keep the screws and the old gasket together so you can compare the seal size when reassembling.
3 Note the 12-spline orientation, then grip the brass insert and pull the old impeller straight off. Recover any broken vane pieces from the downstream cooling circuit before continuing.
4 Clean the housing bore and the wear plate, and inspect them for scoring. Apply a marine-grade impeller lubricant, glycerine or soapy water to the bore and the new vanes. Do not use petroleum-based grease, which attacks neoprene.
5 Align the 12-spline in the brass insert with the pump shaft, then press the impeller in while turning the shaft in the normal direction of rotation so all nine vanes lay over the same way.
6 Refit the cover plate with a serviceable gasket, tighten the screws evenly in a crisscross pattern, open the seacock, then start the engine and confirm a solid stream of cooling water and no leaks at the cover.

How do I confirm this fits my engine? +

Start from the original impeller number. If the old part is Jabsco 17240-0001 / 18789-0001, JMP 9001-01 or DJ 08-15-0901, and the brass hub is a 12-spline 25 mm on a 117 mm 9-blade impeller, this part is the correct size.

The photo looks like 10 blades. Is this a 10-blade impeller? +

No. JMP 9001-01 and DJ 08-15-0901 both specify 9 blades. Count the vanes on the old impeller before ordering.

Is this the same as Jabsco 18786-0001 / JMP 9000-01? +

No. That number is the same envelope with a double-flat hub. This listing is 12-spline. Confirm the drive before ordering.

Will this fit every Cummins K19 or CAT 3406 / 3412? +

Do not assume a whole engine family. Match the original impeller number. JMP pump JPR-C1905 uses this impeller; CAT 7E3022 is listed on this SKU but some catalogs put 7E3022 on the double-flat cousin — confirm spline vs double-flat.
