Using this dedicated pump allows for the essential "bottom-up" filling method. By pumping the marine-grade 80W-90 gear lube through the lower drain hole until it flows out the top vent, you effectively force all air out of the gearcase. How to Use Your Gear Oil Pump

Operating the pump is straightforward. First, unscrew the bottom plug of your lower unit, followed by the top plug, and allow the old oil to drain completely.
