1. Disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure safety.
2. Place a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the gear lube drain screw to drain the oil.

6. Slide the old impeller off the drive shaft. Remove the old gaskets and wear plate below it.

8. Install the new wear plate and gaskets. Slide the new impeller onto the shaft, rotating it in the direction of engine operation to correctly orient the fins.
9. Re-install the water pump housing and tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
10. Carefully guide the lower unit back into position, ensuring the drive shaft, shift shaft, and water tube align correctly. Secure it with the bolts.
11. Refill the lower unit with the correct type and amount of marine gear lube.
