2. Place a drain pan under the lower unit and remove the gearcase lubricant drain screw to drain the oil.

5. Lower and remove the gearcase from the driveshaft housing to access the water pump.
6. Unbolt and remove the old water pump housing, impeller, and wear plate. Note the orientation of the impeller fins.
7. Thoroughly clean all mating surfaces, removing any old gasket material or sealant.
8. Install the new gaskets, wear plate, key, and impeller. Turn the driveshaft clockwise to seat the impeller fins correctly inside the new housing.
9. Secure the new water pump housing with the provided hardware, tightening bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
10. Raise the lower unit back into position, aligning the driveshaft, water tube, and shift shaft. Reconnect the shift linkage.
11. Reinstall the mounting bolts and torque them to specification. Refill the gearcase with the correct marine lubricant.
12. Reconnect the battery. Test the engine in water, ensuring a steady stream of water from the tell-tale port.
