Installation Guide
- Disconnect the spark plug leads and turn off the fuel supply for safety.
- Place the outboard motor in a stable, upright position.
- Remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) and carefully lower it from the engine.
- Unscrew the bolts on the water pump housing cover and remove it.
- Take note of the blade direction of the old impeller before pulling it off the driveshaft.
- Clean the inside of the pump housing and inspect the wear plate and housing for grooves or damage. Replace if necessary.
- Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft. You may need to turn the driveshaft clockwise while pushing down to help bend the blades into place.
- Reinstall the water pump housing and tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
- Apply a light coat of marine grease to the driveshaft splines and reinstall the lower unit.
- Reconnect the spark plug leads and test the engine using a water supply (flusher or in the water) to confirm a steady water stream from the tell-tale outlet.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
Q: How do I confirm this impeller fits my engine?
A: The most reliable method is to match your engine's model and year against the compatible models list. Additionally, cross-reference your existing part number with the numbers provided in the cross-reference table to ensure an exact match.
Q: What are the common signs of a worn or failed impeller?
A: The most common indications include the engine overheating, a weak or non-existent water stream from the "tell-tale" outlet, or a melted water pump housing. Proactive replacement is key to preventing engine damage.
Q: How often should I replace the water pump impeller?
A: For optimal engine protection, it is recommended to replace the impeller every 1 to 2 years, or every 100-200 hours of use, whichever comes first. Replacement intervals may be shorter if you operate frequently in sandy, silty, or saltwater environments.
Q: OEM vs. Aftermarket?
A: This listing is an aftermarket replacement part (not an OEM component). We build to OEM specifications using comparable-grade materials. Production is done in an ISO9002-certified facility, and each batch is inspected for consistent performance.
Q: How fast do you ship and how much does it cost?
A: We offer fast global shipping—typically 5–15 days worldwide—and standard shipping is free. Expedited options are available at checkout depending on your location.
Q: What is your warranty and return policy?
A: This product includes a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If something goes wrong, contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard return window (unused & in original condition); please see our policy page or reach out for instructions.
