7. Clean the housing and cover surfaces thoroughly, removing any old gasket material or corrosion.
8. Install the new gasket and impeller, ensuring the impeller vanes are oriented correctly.
9. Re-install the water pump housing and tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
10. Raise the lower unit back into position and secure it.
11. Reconnect the battery and test the engine with a water supply to confirm proper water flow.
