Installation Guide
- Turn off the engine and close the raw water intake seacock.
- Loosen the serpentine belt to relieve tension from the raw water pump pulley.
- Remove the bolts securing the pump housing cover. Note their positions if they are different lengths.
- Take note of the blade orientation before carefully removing the old impeller. Needle-nose pliers or an impeller puller may be helpful.
- Clean the inside of the pump housing of any debris or old blade pieces.
- Lightly lubricate the new impeller and the inside of the housing with water-resistant grease or dish soap.
- Install the new impeller by squeezing the blades together and rotating it into the housing. Ensure the blades bend in the same direction as the old impeller.
- Replace the housing O-ring (R047242) and the bolt O-rings (R047243).
- Re-secure the housing cover and tighten the bolts in a crossing pattern to ensure an even seal.
- Reinstall and correctly tension the serpentine belt.
- Open the raw water seacock.
- Start the engine and immediately check the pump for any leaks and verify strong water flow from the exhaust.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
Q: How do I confirm this fits my engine?
A: This impeller fits PCM and Crusader engines (5.0L to 8.1L) manufactured from 2003 to present that use a serpentine belt-driven raw water pump. It is not compatible with older V-belt systems. Cross-reference your existing part number with RP061022, R061022, 18-8926, or 9-45718 to ensure a match.
Q: What are the signs of a failing impeller?
A: Common signs include the engine running hotter than normal, a noticeable reduction in water flowing from the exhaust, visible cracks or missing blades on the old impeller, or an impeller that has become stiff and brittle.
Q: How often should I replace my raw water pump impeller?
A: As a critical maintenance item, the impeller should be inspected annually. We recommend replacing it every 1-2 years or every 100-200 hours of engine operation, whichever comes first, to prevent unexpected failure.
Q: OEM vs. Aftermarket?
A: This listing is an aftermarket replacement part (not an OEM component). We build to OEM specifications using comparable-grade materials. Production is done in an ISO9002-certified facility, and each batch is inspected for consistent performance.
Q: How fast do you ship and how much does it cost?
A: We offer fast global shipping—typically 5–15 days worldwide—and standard shipping is free. Expedited options are available at checkout depending on your location.
Q: What is your warranty and return policy?
A: This product includes a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If something goes wrong, contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard return window (unused & in original condition); please see our policy page or reach out for instructions.
