Installation Guide
- Disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the engine cowling.
- Place a drain pan under the gearcase and remove the gearcase drain and vent plugs to drain the lubricant.
- Remove the bolts connecting the lower unit (gearcase) to the outboard's upper leg section.
- Carefully lower the gearcase assembly to expose the top of the driveshaft and water pump housing.
- Unbolt and remove the water pump housing cover and slide it up the driveshaft.
- Note the rotational direction of the old impeller blades before removing the impeller and woodruff key.
- Remove the old housing, base plate, and gaskets. Thoroughly clean all mating surfaces of any old gasket material or corrosion.
- Install the new base plate and gasket onto the gearcase.
- Insert the new woodruff key and slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft. Apply a light coat of marine grease to the new housing interior, and install it while turning the driveshaft clockwise to bend the blades correctly.
- Install the new housing gasket and secure the complete assembly with the original or supplied hardware, tightening bolts to the manufacturer's torque specification.
- Re-install the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube align correctly. Refill the gearcase with fresh lubricant.
- Reconnect the battery, start the engine in water, and immediately check for a steady stream of water from the tell-tale port.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I confirm this kit fits my specific Suzuki DF115?
This kit is designed for earlier models of the Suzuki DF90, DF100, DF115, and DF140. Please check your engine's serial number against the ranges provided in the compatibility chart to ensure a correct fit. For later models with higher serial numbers, a different kit may be required.
What are the signs that my water pump impeller needs replacing?
Common signs of a failing impeller include a weak or no water stream from the engine's "tell-tale" exhaust port, engine overheating alarms activating during operation, or steam coming from the exhaust. A damaged impeller cannot cool the engine effectively, risking severe damage.
How often should I replace the water pump impeller?
As a critical part of preventative maintenance, we recommend inspecting the impeller annually and replacing it every 1-2 years or every 100-200 hours of engine use. Service intervals should be shorter in saltwater or silty/sandy water conditions.
OEM vs. Aftermarket?
This listing is an aftermarket replacement part (not an OEM component). We build to OEM specifications using comparable-grade materials. Production is done in an ISO9002-certified facility, and each batch is inspected for consistent performance.
How fast do you ship and how much does it cost?
We offer fast global shipping—typically 5–15 days worldwide—and standard shipping is free. Expedited options are available at checkout depending on your location.
What is your warranty and return policy?
This product includes a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If something goes wrong, contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard return window (unused & in original condition); please see our policy page or reach out for instructions.
Important Notes
- Verify that the product images and specifications match your original part. If discrepancies exist—even if your model is listed—do not proceed with the purchase.
