- Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft, rotating it in the correct direction to properly seat the vanes.
- Re-install the water pump housing and tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
- Re-attach the lower unit to the outboard and test the engine on a water supply to confirm proper water flow from the tell-tale outlet.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
Q: How do I confirm this kit fits my Honda engine?
A: Check the "Compatible Engine Models" table. This kit fits Honda BF75A, BF90A, BF115A, and BF130A from 2003-2006. For BF75D and BF90D models, it specifically fits units with frame serial numbers BBAJ-1200000 and below or BBCJ-1300000 and below. Always verify your model and serial number before ordering.
Q: What are the signs that my water pump impeller needs replacing?
A: Common signs of a failing impeller include the engine overheating at idle or low speeds, a weak or intermittent water stream from the tell-tale outlet, or a high temperature warning alarm. Upon inspection, visible damage like cracked, brittle, or melted rubber vanes indicates immediate replacement is needed.
Q: How often should I replace the water pump impeller?
A: As part of preventative maintenance, we recommend inspecting the impeller annually and replacing it every 1-2 years or 100-200 hours of use, whichever comes first. Replacement frequency should be increased if you frequently operate in saltwater or water with high levels of sand or silt.
Q: OEM vs. Aftermarket?
A: This listing is an aftermarket replacement part (not an OEM component). We build to OEM specifications using comparable-grade materials. Production is done in an ISO9002-certified facility, and each batch is inspected for consistent performance.
Q: How fast do you ship and how much does it cost?
A: We offer fast global shipping—typically 5–15 days worldwide—and standard shipping is free. Expedited options are available at checkout depending on your location.
Q: What is your warranty and return policy?
A: This product includes a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If something goes wrong, contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard return window (unused & in original condition); please see our policy page or reach out for instructions.
