Cover plate gasket, spline seal and lubricant are not included. Jabsco 920-0003-P adds those service parts. JMP 7400-02 is sold as the impeller with lubricant only.

Installation Guide

  1. 1 Stop the engine or pump, and isolate the suction so water or oily fluid cannot enter the boat while the pump is open.
  2. 2 Remove the cover plate screws and lift off the cover. Keep the screws and the old gasket together so you can compare the seal size when reassembling.
  3. 3 Note the spline orientation, then grip the brass insert and pull the old impeller straight off. Recover any broken vane pieces from the discharge line before continuing.
  4. 4 Clean the housing bore and the wear plate, and inspect them for scoring. Apply a marine-grade impeller lubricant, glycerine or soapy water to the bore and the new vanes.
  5. 5 Align the splines in the brass insert with the pump shaft, then press the impeller in while turning the shaft in the normal direction of rotation so all eight vanes lay over the same way.
  6. 6 Refit the cover plate with a serviceable gasket, tighten the screws evenly in a crisscross pattern, restore suction, then run the pump and confirm flow and no leaks at the cover.

How do I confirm this fits my pump? +

Start from the original impeller number. If the old part is Jabsco 920-0003, Johnson 09-1028B-9, JMP 7400-02 or DJ 001-0801N, and the brass hub is a 12-spline drive about 50 mm wide on a 65 mm 8-blade impeller, this part is the correct size.

Is this the same as Jabsco 920-0001 / JMP 7400-01? +

No. Those are the neoprene cooling impellers in the same 65 × 50 mm 12-spline size. This listing is nitrile for bilge and oily water. Do not use it as a cooling impeller, and do not dump Yanmar / CAT / Onan cooling fitment onto this SKU.

Will nitrile work in a raw-water cooling pump? +

Not as a substitute for 920-0001. Jabsco rates nitrile 920-0003 for bilge pumping and transfer of oil-contaminated water. Use the neoprene 920-0001 listing for engine cooling.
