Installation Guide

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the engine cover. Unclip the shift linkage.
2. Loosen and remove the mounting bolts that secure the lower unit (gearcase) to the outboard's midsection.
3. Carefully separate and lower the gearcase from the engine.
4. Locate the water pump housing on top of the gearcase and remove its mounting bolts.
5. Lift the housing off and slide the old impeller off the driveshaft. Note the rotational direction of the old blades.
6. Remove the old wear plate and gaskets. Thoroughly clean all mating surfaces of debris or corrosion.
7. Install the new wear plate, gaskets, and keyway.
8. Apply a light layer of marine grease inside the pump housing and slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft, rotating it in the direction of engine operation to seat the blades correctly.
9. Reinstall the water pump housing and tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
10. Apply a light coat of marine grease to the driveshaft splines.
11. Carefully guide the lower unit back into place, ensuring the driveshaft, water tube, and shift shaft align properly.
12. Reinstall the lower unit bolts, reconnect the shift linkage, and test the engine's cooling system in water.
