Installation Guide

1. Disconnect the spark plug wires and the battery for safety.
2. Place the outboard in neutral and remove the lower unit (gearcase) by unbolting it from the engine leg.
3. Locate the water pump housing on top of the gearcase and remove its bolts to open it.
4. Note the rotational direction of the existing impeller fins before removal.
5. Slide the old impeller off the driveshaft, and remove the drive key from its slot.
6. Thoroughly clean the inside of the pump housing and inspect the metal plate and cup for scoring or damage.
7. Install the new drive key into the shaft.
8. Coat the new impeller and the inside of the pump housing with a thin layer of marine grease or soapy water.
9. Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft while turning the shaft clockwise to bend the fins in the correct direction.
10. Reinstall the housing cover, ensuring a secure seal, and tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's torque specifications.
11. Reattach the lower unit to the outboard motor.
12. Reconnect the battery and start the engine in a test tank or water, confirming a steady stream of water from the tell-tale outlet.
