Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I confirm this kit fits my engine?
Refer to the "Compatible Engine Models" table to verify your exact model and horsepower. This kit is designed for Yamaha 4-stroke models F25B, F30A, F40B, F50A (1991-2007) and 2-stroke E40X/40X models, replacing OEM part 6BG-W0078-01-00.
What are the signs that my water pump impeller is failing?
Common symptoms include the engine overheating at idle or low speeds, a weak or intermittent water stream from the "telltale" outlet, or finding cracked, brittle, or permanently bent vanes on the impeller during inspection.
How often should I replace the water pump impeller?
As a crucial part of preventative maintenance, it is recommended to inspect the impeller annually and replace it every 1-2 years or every 100-200 hours of operation. Replacement frequency should be increased in saltwater or high-debris environments.
