Installation Guide

1. Ensure the engine is off and disconnect the battery for safety.
2. Remove the lower unit (gearcase) from the outboard motor by unbolting it.
3. Locate the water pump assembly on top of the lower unit and remove its cover screws.
4. Lift the water pump housing to expose the impeller. Note the rotational direction of the existing impeller's blades.
5. Remove the old impeller and the drive key from the driveshaft.
6. Clean the inside of the pump housing and inspect the wear plate for scoring or damage. Replace if necessary.
7. Install the new drive key and slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft.
8. While pushing the pump housing down, rotate the driveshaft in the normal direction of engine rotation to correctly bend the new impeller blades.
9. Secure the pump housing with its screws, tightening them to the manufacturer's specified torque.
10. Reinstall the lower unit onto the motor, ensuring the water tube and shift shaft are properly aligned.
11. Reconnect the battery, supply water to the engine using flushing muffs, and start the engine to verify water is pumping from the tell-tale outlet.
