Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I confirm this fits my engine?
First, check the "Compatible Engine Models" table on this page. For Yamaha engines, you can use the linked serial number guide and parts catalog to verify the OEM part number (68T-44352-00-00) required for your specific model and year.
What is the purpose of the Woodruff key?
The Woodruff key is a small, semi-circular piece of metal that locks the impeller to the driveshaft. This ensures the impeller spins with the shaft to pump water. Failure to install the key will result in the engine overheating.
How often should I replace the water pump impeller?
For preventative maintenance, it is recommended to inspect the impeller annually and replace it every 1-2 years, or more frequently if you operate in saltwater or sandy/silty conditions. Signs of a failing impeller include a weak water stream from the tell-tale outlet or an overheating engine alarm.
OEM vs. Aftermarket?
This listing is an aftermarket replacement part (not an OEM component). We build to OEM specifications using comparable-grade materials. Production is done in an ISO9002-certified facility, and each batch is inspected for consistent performance.
How fast do you ship and how much does it cost?
