Installation Guide
- Disconnect the fuel line and remove the lower unit from the outboard motor following your engine's service manual.
- Remove the water pump housing cover to access the old impeller. Take note of the impeller blade orientation.
- Extract the old impeller and key/pin carefully; inspect the pump housing for debris, scoring, or corrosion.
- Clean the housing and shaft thoroughly with a suitable marine cleaner to remove salt deposits and residue.
- Lubricate the new impeller generously with silicone grease, glycerin, or dish soap to ease installation and prevent blade damage.
- Insert the key/pin into the drive shaft slot and align the new impeller blades in the correct rotational direction.
- Slide the impeller onto the shaft gently, rotating it as needed to allow blades to compress into the housing.
- Reinstall the pump housing cover and gasket, ensuring all fasteners are torqued to manufacturer specifications.
- Reattach the lower unit to the engine, aligning splines and shift linkage carefully.
- Reconnect the fuel line and water inlet, then test the cooling system by running the engine in a test tank or on muffs.
