Troubleshooting & FAQ
How do I confirm this fits my engine?
Start by checking the compatibility table above. Match your engine's brand, model, horsepower, and year range. Pay close attention to the "Notes" column, which specifies gearcase (GC) sizes (e.g., 4.8" GC for Verado) or other specific model details like Command Thrust or ProXS.
How much of my original skeg do I need for installation?
A minimum of 2-3 inches of the original skeg must be remaining and intact. This is required to provide a solid mounting surface for the bolt-on guard.
What is the purpose of the drain hole at the bottom?
The drain hole allows any water that enters the guard to escape. This is critical for preventing water collection, which can lead to corrosion, galvanic damage, or cracking if the water freezes.
