Installation Guide
- 1Turn the ignition off and disconnect the negative battery cable before working on trim wiring or the gimbal-mounted sender.
- 2Trim the sterndrive fully in (full down), then note the wire colours and connector orientation on the old sender before unplugging it.
- 3Remove the retaining hardware and withdraw the old sender. Compare the new unit side by side — body shape, rotor index marks, and harness layout should match.
- 4With the drive still fully in, align the index mark on the sensor rotor with the index mark on the sensor body, then install and secure the sender per your MerCruiser service manual torque values.
- 5Route and clamp the harness clear of moving parts, mate the connector until it latches, and reconnect the battery.
- 6Power up SmartCraft and verify trim moves smoothly from full in to full out. Recalibrate with a Mercury CDS / CDS G3 tool or SmartCraft Manager if your application requires it.
Note: Professional installation is recommended for SmartCraft trim senders on DTS and digital-gauge boats.
