  1. Allow the engine to cool, keep the outboard upright, and place suitable containers under the engine-oil and lower-unit drain points.
  2. Replace the oil filter, fuel-filter components, thermostat, and supplied sealing pieces in accordance with the engine service manual.
  3. Fit the new engine-oil drain-plug gasket and the lower-unit drain gaskets at their respective service points.
  4. Use the supplied gear oil pump only with the correct lower-unit service connection and the lubricant specified for the engine.
  5. Refill fluids and inspect the serviced areas for leakage before returning the engine to operation.
