Installation Guide
- Disconnect the battery and ensure the engine is completely off. Remove the propeller and drain the lower unit gear oil completely.
- Unbolt and separate the lower unit from the mid-section according to your engine's service manual. Note the position of all shift linkage components.
- Remove the old lower casing cap, carefully noting the orientation of seals and bearings. Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly to remove old sealant and debris.
- Inspect the propeller shaft and surrounding housing for wear or damage. Replace any worn components before proceeding.
- Install the new 93315-22004 bearing into the lower casing cap housing, ensuring it seats fully and squarely.
- Install the 93101-20M07 oil seals with the seal lips facing inward toward the gear oil. Use a seal driver to avoid damage.
- Install both 93210-65M50 O-rings into their designated grooves, lightly lubricating with marine grease.
- Position the 93210-64ME7 O-ring and 93306-00612 bearing in their respective locations as shown in the exploded diagram.
- Apply marine-grade sealant to the mating surface of the lower casing cap. Install the cap and torque bolts to manufacturer specifications in a crisscross pattern.
- Reassemble the lower unit to the mid-section, reconnecting shift linkage carefully. Ensure all fasteners are properly torqued.
- Refill the lower unit with the correct grade and quantity of gear oil. Check for leaks around all new seals and O-rings.
- Reinstall the propeller, reconnect the battery, and test-run the engine in water to verify proper operation and seal integrity.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
Q: How do I confirm this kit fits my specific outboard engine?
A: Cross-reference your engine model and year with the compatibility table provided above. Verify that your original part number matches 61N-45361-01-4D. If you have a 6L2 series engine, this kit is NOT compatible due to differences in outer diameter.
Q: What are the signs that my lower casing cap seals need replacement?
A: Common symptoms include gear oil leaking from the lower unit, water contamination in the gear oil (milky appearance), unusual noise from the gearbox, or overheating of the lower unit during operation.
Q: How often should I replace the lower casing seals and bearings?
A: Inspect seals and bearings annually or every 100 hours of operation. Replace immediately if you notice leaks, water intrusion, or rough bearing rotation. Preventive replacement every 2–3 years is recommended for engines in saltwater or heavy-use environments.
Q: Can I install this kit myself or do I need a professional?
A: Installation requires mechanical skill, specialized tools (seal drivers, torque wrench), and knowledge of outboard lower unit assembly. If you're not experienced with outboard service, we strongly recommend professional installation to avoid damage or improper sealing.
Q: What's the difference between this aftermarket kit and the OEM version?
A: This listing is an aftermarket replacement part (not an OEM component). We build to OEM specifications using comparable-grade materials. Production is done in an ISO9002-certified facility, and each batch is inspected for consistent performance.
Q: How fast do you ship and how much does it cost?
A: We offer fast global shipping—typically 5–15 days worldwide—and standard shipping is free. Expedited options are available at checkout depending on your location.
Q: What is your warranty and return policy?
A: This product includes a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects under normal use. If something goes wrong, contact our support team with your order details. Returns are accepted within our standard return window (unused & in original condition); please see our policy page or reach out for instructions.
Important Notes
- Verify that the product images and specifications match your original part. If discrepancies exist—even if your model is listed—do not proceed with the purchase.
- This product is an aftermarket replacement part and is not an OEM component.
- Professional installation is recommended to ensure safety and optimal performance.
