Installation Guide

1. Disconnect the battery and remove the engine cover.
2. Place the outboard motor in neutral and remove the lower unit (gearcase) by unbolting it from the engine leg.
3. Locate the water pump assembly on top of the lower unit and remove the housing bolts.
4. Slide the water pump housing up and off the driveshaft to expose the old impeller.
5. Take note of the blade orientation, then remove the old impeller. It may be necessary to pry it off or cut it if it is seized.
6. Clean any debris from the driveshaft, pump housing, and wear plate. Inspect the housing and plate for grooves or damage and replace if necessary.
7. Apply a light coat of marine grease to the new impeller and the inside of the pump housing.
8. Slide the new impeller onto the driveshaft with a twisting motion, ensuring the blades are oriented in the correct rotational direction.
9. Reinstall the pump housing, making sure the impeller blades are correctly seated inside.
10. Torque the housing bolts to the manufacturer-specified values.
11. Re-attach the lower unit to the outboard motor.
12. Reconnect the battery, supply water to the engine using flushing muffs, and start the engine to verify a strong water stream from the tell-tale port.
