Installation Guide

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and shift the outboard into the neutral position.
2. Locate and remove the mounting bolts that secure the lower unit (gearcase) to the engine's midsection.
3. Carefully lower and separate the lower unit from the driveshaft housing.
4. Unbolt the water pump housing cover to expose the impeller.
5. Pay close attention to the rotational direction of the old impeller's blades before removing it from the driveshaft.
6. Remove the old impeller, gaskets, and wear plate, inspecting them for damage or wear.
7. Thoroughly clean all mating surfaces on the housing and wear plate.
8. Install the new wear plate and gasket, followed by the new impeller. Slide it onto the driveshaft while turning the shaft clockwise to correctly seat the blades.
9. Apply a light coat of marine grease to the inside of the housing, then reinstall the housing and torque the bolts to the manufacturer's specified values.
10. Carefully reinstall the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube align correctly.
11. Secure the lower unit with its mounting bolts.
12. Reconnect the battery and test the engine using a flush-out device or in the water to confirm a steady stream from the cooling system's telltale outlet.
